The Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice agreed to declare admissible the extradition request made by Venezuela for Costa Rica to hand over Adrián José Pérez Díaz, accused of participating in a triple murder.
Such a decision is contained in sentence 544 written by Judge Carmen Marisela Castro and signed by her courtroom colleagues, Elsa Gómez and Maikel Moreno.
The events occurred on March 9, 2019 in the Boquerón sector, between Los Teques (Miranda) and Las Tejerías (Aragua), a rural area where Luis Manuel Pérez Cedeño, José Mangarret and Javier Rosales were located. These people were in the mountains looking for some lost cattle.
Luis, José and Javier were reported missing to the Cicpc, whose agents arrested Carlos Enrique Mendoza Calzadilla, who confessed to having murdered the three men, dismembering their bodies and burying them in a grave. The subject led the officials to the site and they proceeded to unearth the remains.
Regarding the perpetration of this triple homicide, Mendoza mentioned that he was accompanied by four more people.
At the beginning of October, the Venezuelan authorities received information from Interpol about the arrest in Costa Rica of Pérez Díaz, accused of the triple homicide.
Based on that information, the Public Ministry activated the extradition process, whose file reached the Criminal Court. The magistrates confirmed compliance with the requirements established to propose an extradition and therefore declared it appropriate.
