With one month to go until the election, the minister reported that the regional electoral courts of Amazonas, Acre and Pará will work to ensure that all voters have “the full material capacity to go and vote and exercise their citizenship fully, without major consequences”.

At the opening of today’s morning session, Cármen Lúcia also expressed solidarity with the people of the Amazon, who are facing drought.

“We stand in solidarity with the people of the Amazon. Brazil is concerned, the world is concerned, and we see a drought that is compromising people’s lives. We hope that we, human beings, who have contributed so much to the serious climate situation in the country, will be able to come up with solutions and make proposals and adopt actions that will help us escape this condition of destruction that human action has led us to,” he said.

Amazon Day is celebrated today. Earlier, social movements held demonstrations in different states in defense of the Amazon and the populations affected by the actions of large-scale projects and extreme weather events.
