The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, ordered the deletion of posts on social networks of deputy André Janones (Avante-MG), according to which President Jair Bolsonaro would have expressed support for the actions of Roberto Jefferson. Yesterday (23), the former deputy resisted arrest and shot against federal police.
Moraes complied with the request of Bolsonaro’s campaign and signed the decision on Sunday night.
Posts on Janones’ profiles also say that Jefferson would be Bolsonaro’s campaign coordinator, who is seeking re-election. The president denies the information.
In the decision, Moraes wrote that the posts “they detach themselves from reality, through untruths and assumptions, making use of non-existent clippings and chains, with the aim of inducing the electorate negatively, to believe that Roberto Jefferson would be the campaign coordinator of Jair Messias Bolsonaro and that the candidate would have expressed support for criminal acts committed today [domingo]”.
The minister ordered the Twitter and Instagram platforms to delete Janones’ posts within two hours after receiving notification, under penalty of a fine of BRL 100,000. The deputy can also no longer publish the information dropped, being subject to a fine of the same amount in case of non-compliance.
After Jefferson’s arrest last night, Bolsonaro published a video in which he calls the former deputy a bandit. “As I determined to the Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, Roberto Jefferson has just been arrested. The treatment given to those who shoot a police officer is that of a criminal. I offer my solidarity to the police officers injured in the episode.”
The police officers hit by shrapnel – delegate Marcelo Vilella and agent Karina Oliveira – had minor injuries and are doing well after receiving hospital care, according to the Federal Police (PF).
