The ceremony aims to carry out an audit of the system that will be used to total the votes that will be computed in the electronic ballot box by voters across the country.

During the event, the programs that manage the outcome of the election, called totalization management, will be checked. The ballot box file receiver and ballot box information systems will also be inspected.

On Saturday night (5), the day before the election, Cármen Lúcia will make a statement on radio and TV to urge voters to vote.

Another audit procedure will be carried out on election day. With the so-called zerésima, it is possible to verify that there is no vote registered in the electronic ballot box before voting begins, which will begin at 8 am across the country.

At around 7am, poll workers must print a report on all electronic voting machines installed at polling stations and prove that the ballot box is reset. Voting will only begin after the procedure.

The first round of elections will be on Sunday (6). Voters will vote for councilor and mayor. In five municipalities in the country, the electorate must still participate in popular queries.

The second round of the dispute can be held on October 27th in 103 municipalities with more than 200 thousand votersin which none of the candidates for mayor manages to reach more than half of the valid votes, excluding blank and null votes, in the first round.

More than 155 million voters are eligible to vote in 5,569 municipalities. Voting hours will be from 8am to 5pm (Brasília time) across the country.
