Richard Grenelll, special envoy for Venezuela from the president of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Thursday, September 25 that he has direct conversations with the team of Nicolás Maduro, amid tensions between both countries due to the US military deployment in the South Caribbean.
«I have already talking to Venezuela on the orders of President Trump. I have talked to Mr. Maduro, I have gone to Venezuela and I still contact his team, ”said Grenell In an interview to CBS Newsafter being consulted on the application for dialogue made by Maduro through a letter to Trump.
Grenell did not offer details about the conversations he holds with Maduro’s team, and neither on the agenda he develops in relation to Venezuela.
On September 17, during a meeting in Paraguay, Grenell said that an agreement with Venezuela could still be reached and advocated maintaining dialogue with the Maduro Administration.

In recent days, Nicolás Maduro sent a letter to President Donald Trump in which he expresses his willingness to hold a direct dialogue with Washington and proposes that these conversations take place through the special envoy of the White House.
In addition, he indicated in the letter that Venezuela is a territory of peace, free of illegal activities, and asked to stop military deployment in the Caribbean, which he has described as a threat to the region.
The White House rejected the contents of the document and described it as “Lies list”according to the press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, who also reiterated that Washington’s position towards Venezuela will not change.
