Trump's chief of staff describes him “with the personality of an alcoholic”; the president defends her

The chief of staff of the president of the United States, Susie Wilesoffered unusually blunt assessments of Donald Trump, his governing style, and several of his closest allies in a series of interviews with Vanity Fair.

In more than ten conversations, Wiles stated that the president “has the personality of an alcoholic”despite the fact that he does not consume alcohol, and maintained that he governs certain that “there is nothing he cannot do.”

Wiles explained that her appreciation comes from her personal experience, as she grew up with an alcoholic father, and compared the president’s behavior to that of people with strong personalities who “exaggerate” certain traits.

In this context, he assured that Trump acts with the feeling that there are no real limits to his powerhe said cnn.

In the interviews, the chief of staff also acknowledged that a component of political retaliation could be perceived in the judicial processes against the president’s adversaries.

Regarding the case of former FBI Director James Comey, he admitted that “people might think that he does seem vindictive.”

Likewise, he noted that, although Trump does not wake up thinking about revenge, “when the opportunity presents itself, he takes advantage of it.”

What else did Wiles say?

Wiles also made unfavorable judgments about key figures in the presidential environment.

Vice President JD Vance said he has been a conspiracy theorist for years and suggested that his turn toward Trumpism was “in some ways political.”

About Elon Muska former ally of the president, stated that he is a ketamine user and described him as “a peculiar guy,” although she confessed to feeling “horrified” by his role in the dismantling of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In relation to Venezuela, he stated that Trump “wants to continue blowing up ships until Maduro gives up,” although he acknowledged that any attack would require authorization from Congress.

He also said he had unsuccessfully advised the president not to pardon the most violent protesters from the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and to delay the announcement of new tariffs, amid internal disagreements.

Trump defends his chief of staff

After the publication of the report, Trump reacted by defending his chief of staff in statements to The New York Postaccording to EFE.

He claimed not to have read the article, but supported Wiles and He stated that she “has done a fantastic job.”

The president said that he understood the reference to his “alcoholic personality” as an allusion to his character, and reiterated that, although he does not drink, he has commented on other occasions that he could have been an alcoholic if he drank.

Before the president’s response, Wiles had criticized the report, which she described as “a deceptively elaborate piece” that, according to her, omitted relevant contexts to construct a “chaotic and negative” narrative about the president and his team.

The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio also questioned the work of Vanity Fair and stated that the media manipulated images and statements to harm the White House.

For his part, journalist Chris Whipple maintained that all the material is recorded and that there is “not a single fact” in the article that has been denied.
