Trump struggled with his driver; he wanted to join the insurrection

Washington. Donald Trump pounced on his driver and took the wheel of his limousine to try to join the march of his supporters to the Capitol on the day of the January 6, 2021 riot, explosive testimony revealed Tuesday in the US Congress.

Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows, told the House committee investigating the Capitol takeover that the president had demanded to march with the mob.

After giving a speech near the White House, Trump believed he would be led to join the crowd heading to Capitol Hill to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

That’s why he was furious when told it was impossible for security reasons, and tried to wrestle with Secret Service personnel for control of his official car, Hutchinson testified.

“I’m the fucking president, take me to the Capitol now,” Trump said, according to Hutchinson, who said another White House official told him the story.

Trump, who is openly flirting with the idea of running for president in 2024, vehemently denounced all these revelations, seeking to discredit Hutchinson in messages on his social network Truth Social.
