Health Minister Alexandre Padilha saidthis Saturday (27), that the rStrictions imposed on his participation in United Nations (UN) meetings by US President Donald Trump may even delay, but will not prevent Brazil from signing partnerships in the area of health with other countries.
“They can even restrict the circulation of a minister, but they cannot restrict the idea. They cannot hold the circulation of the idea or the strength of Brazil in international cooperation with other countries to bring investments here,” he emphasized.
The statement was given to journalists during a visit to the works and the inauguration of new wings at the Federal Hospital of Andaraí, located in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The face-to-face participation at the Board of Directors Meeting of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington followed, however, restricted.
Padilha, who would travel from New York to Washington on Friday (26), for the meeting, chose not to go.
“I had scheduled meetings in embassies from other countries and the restrictions did not allow me to do that. I was going out of New York yesterday to be Monday in Washington, at the PAHO assembly. All of this was prevented by these absurd restrictions. This may delay, but it will not prevent us from signing these partnerships. Tariff
Asked about the impacts of Trump’s tariff on drug prices, the minister said the tariffs are focused on the Brazilian export industry.
“The impact that these absurd tariffs made by the president of the United States generated is for the Brazilian export industry. We have an industry in health, especially oral health, medical equipment, from oral health inputs that even exported to the United States.”
He ponders, that measures are already being taken to mitigate these impacts by the Federal Government, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and the Financing of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) so that they can maintain jobs, production and discover other markets. “This industry is exporting to other countries, not only the United States to export,” he said.
On medicines, the Minister said the restrictions encouraged new partnerships for national production, such as the insulinmedicine used in the treatment of diabetes.
Padilha also pointed out that the American companies themselves are seeking partnerships with Brazil, bringing technology to the country. He cited as an example, the Agreement for the production of vaccine against the Respiratory Sincient Virus (VSR)one of the main causes of severe respiratory infections in babies, including bronchiolitis paintings.
According to the minister, the vaccine will be available in SUS from November.
“These companies that are headquartered in the United States, in these situations, they invest even more in Brazil, transfer the technology here in Brazil. We guarantee the bronchiolite vaccine to the Brazilian people with these partnerships and generate income, jobs and technology here in Brazil,” he said.

Hospitals in Rio de Janeiro
