Hundreds of protesters have concentrated in the city of Anchorage (Alaska) in rejection of the president’s arrival Russian Vladimir Putin, who will see his counterpart Donald Trump in search of an end for war in Ukraine today, although Volodimir Zelenski is not at the meeting.
The face to face between Putin and Trump will be held after the security perimeter of the Elmendorf-Richardson Air Base, one of the most important military positions to monitor and counteract Russia in the Arctic.

“I’m not doing this for my health. Ok, I don’t need it,” Trump told journalists aboard the Air Force One while heading to Anchorage on Friday morning, according to quote from CNN. “I would like to focus on our country, but I am doing this to save many lives.”
Trump had reduced the expectations of this first encounter between the two leaders since 2019, after recognizing that obtaining peace in Ukraine “was somewhat more difficult than I thought,” after promising before arriving at the White House in January that would achieve it in 24 hours.
In the case of Putin, and according to media such as Cubadebatethe plane he was traveling in landed on the morning of this Friday in the city of Magadán, in the distant Russian East, for a brief scale before continuing a trip to Anchorage.
Upon arrival, Russian Foreign Minister Serguéi Lavrov called not to anticipate events. According to media like EFEDonald Trump is expected to make a visit to Russia after the summit.
Anchorage, city of 300,000 inhabitants, now lives its most tourist summer months under the long sun of the Arctic winter, and receives this Russian-American summit with curiosity, but generally oblivious to the future of journalists and official Russian planes that precede the summit.
For the first time, a Russian president sets the foot in the colony of the Imperial Russia until 1867, when it was sold for 7.2 million dollars (about 100 million dollars today) to the United States.
It was also learned since Zelenski and the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, spoke this Friday and agreed to meet “at the time it is more useful and effective” after the meeting between Trump and Putin.
