The President of the United States, Donald Trump, made threats against Cuba this Sunday (11) on his social network, Truth Social. The North American president stated that the island will no longer have the oil it received from Venezuela.
“Cuba lived for many years with a large amount of oil and money coming from Venezuela. In return, Cuba provided “security services” for the last Venezuelan dictators. Now that is over!”
Venezuela was the largest supplier of oil to Cuba, but there was an abrupt cut in this service after Maduro’s kidnapping.
In his text, Trump also said that most of the Cubans who were personal security guards for Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela, were killed in the operation that kidnapped the Venezuelan leader on January 3. “Venezuela now has the US, the most powerful military force in the world (by far!) to protect them.”
Trump also sent a warning to the Cuban government: “I strongly suggest that they make a deal before it is too late.”
The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel went to social media and reacted to the North American president’s posts. He wrote:
“Cuba is a free, independent and sovereign nation. Nobody will tell us what to do. Cuba does not attack, it has been attacked by the USA for 66 years and it does not threaten, it prepares to defend the Homeland until the last drop of blood.”
Diaz-Canel continued in his text and said that those who blame the Cuban revolution for economic deficiencies “should remain silent out of shame, because they know and recognize that they are the result of the extreme suffocation measures that the US has applied to us for six decades and that they now threaten to overcome”.
According to the Cuban president, the USA “does not have any morals to point the finger at Cuba, as they turn everything into business, even human lives. “Those who are now hysterically revolting against our nation are consumed by anger at the sovereign decision of these people to choose their political model.”
