The president of the United States announced on Tuesday the blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers that enter or leave Venezuela with crude oil on board.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, insisted this Thursday the 18th that he does not need authorization from Congress to carry out bombings on drug trafficking interests that are based on Venezuelan soil, although at the same time he admitted that he would not mind sharing the information beforehand with the legislature.
«I wouldn’t mind telling it (to Congress), but it’s not that big of a deal. I don’t have to tell you, it’s already proven,” Trump said at an event at the White House when asked by journalists and after in recent days he has redoubled his pressure on the administration of Nicolás Maduro and warned that the US will soon begin carrying out attacks on “ground targets” in the Caribbean country.
On Tuesday, the US president announced on social networks that Washington would block all sanctioned oil tankers entering or leaving Venezuela with crude oil on board and accused the Venezuelan Executive of stealing US oil fields and assets, making apparent reference to the expropriations carried out during the government of Hugo Chávez.
Since mid-August, Trump has ordered a massive military deployment in the Caribbean with the aim of stopping drug trafficking of which he also accuses Caracas, and since September he has summarily bombed more than two dozen alleged drug boats, causing the death of approximately one hundred people.
Trump’s statement today comes in turn two days after the publication of an interview with the president’s Cabinet Secretary, Susie Wiles, who admitted that if the New York magnate authorized a military deployment on Venezuelan soil that would mean “war” and that then the Republican would require the approval of Congress.
