United States President Donald Trump has authorized economic and traveling sanctions against people who work on International Criminal Court (ICC) investigations on US citizens or US allies, such as Israel, causing conviction-but also Some compliments – abroad.
The ICC is a permanent court that can prosecute individuals for war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and a crime of aggression against the territory of the member states or by their citizens.
Trump’s measure, on Thursday (6), coincided with a visit to Washington of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is the target of the ICC because of the war in Gaza.

“The court remains firm with its staff and pledges to continue providing justice and hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities around the world, in all situations presented to it,” he said today.
The ICC also asked their 125 member states to support their team.
Europe
“Sanctioning the TPI threatens the Court’s independence and impairs the international criminal justice system as a whole,” wrote António Costa, president of the European Union leaders on the Bluesky social network platform.
The Netherlands, a host of the Hague -based court, also said to regret the penalties, as well as the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
“The court’s work is essential in the fight against impunity,” said Netherlands Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp, in a post at X.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Trump’s firm ally, said the sanctions show that it may be time to leave the TPI.
“It’s time for Hungary to review what we are doing in an international organization under US sanctions. New winds are blowing into international politics. We call him Trump-Tornado,” he said.
Court’s authorities called for meetings in The Hague on Friday to discuss the implications of the sanctions, a source told Reuters.
US sanctions include the freezing of all assets of those assigned in the US and the prohibition that they and their families visit the country.
