The US attorney general, PAM Bondi, announced Wednesday that the Department of Justice has presented charges against the New York authorities, a “sanctuary” state governed by Democrats that protects migrants in an irregular situation.

They reproach them to hinder federal efforts to combat illegal immigration.

The announcement was made a week after the Department of Justice led by Bondi sued the “Sanctuary” city of Chicago and Illinois (a state of the west medium) for similar reasons.

“We demanded Illinois and New York did not listen,” said the attorney general at a press conference.

«New York has chosen to prioritize illegal migrants over US citizens. That ends today, ”he released.

“If federal law breeds, we will make you responsible,” Bondi said. “And if you are a state that does not comply with federal law, you are the following,” he added, implying that he will apply the same criteria to any other.

The complaint is targeting the governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, the State Attorney General, Leticia James, both Democrats, and Mark Schroeder, of the Motorized Vehicle Department (DMV), the latter for a provision that makes them notify “Any illegal foreigner when a federal immigration agency has requested their information.”

“It is notifying an illegal foreigner, and is unconstitutional,” Bondi protested.

Bondi complained that New York police are not allowed, for example, to verify the residence status of motorists who stop for traffic infractions.

“If they stop someone and have no access to their background, they have no idea who they are dealing with,” he said.

In the press conference, Bondi gave the word to the mother of a 20-year-old girl who was killed by a member of the MS-13 gang that was illegally in the country.

Trump states that migrants in an irregular situation are criminals, despite the fact that statistics show that Americans commit more crimes than they per capita.

Since he returned to the White House on January 20, the Republican tycoon declared a “national emergency” on the border with Mexico and signed a decree that declares that migrants in an irregular situation represent “significant threats for national security.”

It accuses the so -called sanctuary cities of giving them “safe shelters to avoid being detected by federal forces” and living and working “between innocent Americans, who can later become victims of their crimes.”

In addition to New York and Illinois, among the Sanctuary states are California, Washington, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Oregon.

Some cities such as Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco or Washington also apply migrant protection policies.

*Journalism in Venezuela is exercised in a hostile environment for the press with dozens of legal instruments arranged for the punishment of the word, especially the laws “against hatred”, “against fascism” and “against blockade.” This content is being published taking into account the threats and limits that, consequently, have been imposed on the dissemination of information from within the country.
