A collision between a truck and a motorcycle left two people dead yesterday in the city of Cochabamba. The incident occurred in the southern part of the municipality, after 7:00.
The two victims are the driver and the passenger who were traveling on the motorcycle. They are a 67-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman.
Both were transferred by the authorities to the morgue of the Institute of Forensic Investigations (IDIF), where the autopsy was performed.
Some local media pointed out that the truck driver was detained by police officers, while Bolivia Tv reported that a blood sample was taken for laboratory analysis. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
According to the neighbors, the truck was going down Samaipata street and the motorcycle was traveling on Ignacio Warnes street when the accident occurred at the intersection of both roads. Testimony indicates that the motorcycle passed the red light. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, reported the Unitel television network.
The inhabitants of the area claimed that the bodies were approximately half an hour in the place waiting for the police presence.
The driver of the motorcycle, according to data from Unitel, was identified as Juan G., 67, who worked as a doorman at the Abaroa school, located on Ayacucho Avenue. And his companion was identified by the name of Carmen R., 57 years old.
Silvia, a person close to Juan, indicated that the man left the educational unit with his motorcycle to take the woman to her home.
“He got on the motorcycle and I told him: ‘Don Juan, he says that those from the Caja are going to come to play’ He told me: ‘I’m going back right now, just wait for me, please, Choquita. And take care of the school,’” she reported in dismay.
Students and alumni mourned Juan’s death. They reported that he worked for more than four decades in the Cochabamba educational unit.
