Luis Rengifo hit a tiebreaking homer off Adam Kolarek (0-1) in the fifth inning and Andrew Velazquez added a two-run shot in the seventh for the Angels, who have won four of six against the A’s this season.
Oakland starting pitcher Frankie Montas and outfielder Ramon Laureano both suffered right hand injuries in the second inning.
The A’s tried to come back with three runs in the eighth, but came up short in the ninth, when Raisel Iglesias retired his opponents in order for his ninth save.
Trout joined Willie Mays and Alex Rodriguez as the only players with at least 1,000 runs, 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases for the season in which they turned 30.
Lorenzen (5-2) struck out five and walked two in his fourth victory in his last five starts.
