At 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Tropical Storm Ileana was advancing with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, gusts of 85 km/h and moving north at 11 km/h.
“(A) prevention zone for the effects of tropical storms is maintained from Altata, Sinaloa, to Huatabampito, Sonora,” the agency added.
Ileana is expected landfall between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the municipality of Ahome, Sinaloa and weaken to a remnant low pressure during the afternoon and evening of this day.
Ileana leaves floods in Los Cabos
On the afternoon of Friday, September 13, the tropical storm slowed down and was expected to make landfall in the town of San José del Cabo.
The National Civil Protection Coordination has therefore issued a red alert for the south of the state.
Given this scenario, flights were suspended in Los Cabos and modifications were made to flights in La Paz. Specifically, the airlines Southwest, Alaska and United decided to cancel flights as a precaution in Los Cabos.
Heavy rains caused by storm Ileana left floods in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur and damage to homes, cars and hospitals.
