The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) announced this Wednesday after 6:00 am that after passing through Trinidad and Tobago, the tropical cyclone headed for Venezuela decreased in intensity.

However, the prevention measures announced by the National Executive will be maintained until further notice for the protection of the population, reported in Twitter Minister of Interior Relations, Remigio Ceballos.

Currently, tropical cyclone No. 2 is moving north of the coast of Miranda state in the Caribbean Sea, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour with stronger gusts.

“A tropical storm warning remains in place for Granada and its dependencies, Isla de Margarita, Coche and Cubagua, Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, the coast of Venezuela from the Paraguaná Peninsula westward to the border between Colombia and Venezuela, including the Gulf from Venezuela, and the Coast of Colombia to Santa Marta”, indicated the Inameh report.

The meteorological agency warned that the potential tropical cyclone is expected to produce heavy rains in the Windward Islands and northeast Venezuela.

In the rest of the country there will be abundant cloudiness, with rains or showers, accompanied by electrical activity and gusts of wind.

Ceballos announced Tuesday that an alarm system has been activated in the country since the signals were received on radar and hydrometeorological stations about the arrival of the potential cyclone.

The State implemented a special prevention operation in the coastal states, as well as in the capital, with more than 16,000 security and protection officials deployed.

Measures announced by Maduro

Nicholas Maduro ad a series of measures, which includes the suspension of classes throughout the country on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as the restriction of flights at all airports in the country, and the application of special measures at ports and airfields.

The departure of boats and the protection of all ships and fishing communities were prohibited. And the closure of land routes at risk was also ordered, as well as the closure of beaches until the alert passes.
