The modifications to the minutes of the Infonavit Law, which eliminate greater government representation and return to tripartism in the decision-making bodies of that institute, will make it difficult to reconcile, but the fundamental thing is that the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) will be able to give monitoring the use of workers’ housing funds to avoid acts of corruption, said the leader of the Mining Union, Napoleón Gómez Urrutia.
In an interview, the Morena deputy also commented that within his group it was explained that the changes made a day before in committees of that Chamber to the project that the Senate sent them have a democratic desire, to return equal participation to all. the sectors in Infonavit, because that is the true meaning of tripartism.
Under that argument, he said, it was determined that in the Surveillance Commission, where the legislators of the Upper House established that the government would have five representatives, two from the workers’ sector and two from the businessmen, the deputies changed to three for each one. of those sectors.
The same solution was carried out with the Audit and Transparency Commission, that instead of three spaces for government representation, there will be only one for each party.
In this regard, Gómez Urrutia considered that he has his doubts about this tripartism because not everyone always acts honestly: It will be difficult to reconcile when everyone has equal representation and the government is not above others. Therefore, it is necessary to review in practice how this scheme works in the decisions that Infonavit must make to fulfill its mission, which is to provide comfortable, decent and low-cost housing to workers.
.
He was asked if there is a possibility that the representations of workers and businessmen will ally again to carry out acts of corruption in the institute, as they did in the PRI and PAN governments – actions that the current director of the institute has denounced. –.
The union leader said he hopes it will not happen again. I do see the risk that the representatives of workers and employers could ally themselves, but now the general director will no longer be a mere executor of decisions made by both, as has happened until now, because in the minutes it was maintained that he will not only have a voice but I also vote within the Board of Directors
he pointed out.
The Morena deputy noted that a key element to avoid acts of corruption, such as union and business leaders building, with their own companies, uninhabitable units with inflated costs, is that the ASF will be able to intervene, investigate and detect any diversion of resources.
He commented that the Mining Union, which he presides, will return to be part of the representation of the workers that it had since Infonavit was founded, but of which it was stripped during the six-year term of the PAN member Vicente Fox: It is expected that we will again be on the Board of Directors and in the assembly. From there we will be alert that the Institute advances, according to the programming of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s housing plan.
.
A fundamental change is required, that workers’ housing funds are never again used as a business for a few, otherwise there would be no point in a profound reform like the one being made to the Infonavit Law.
