“I remember that one day I came home, when I lived at the University of São Paulo (USP), I turned on the television and saw fans in a football stadium insulting a goalkeeper. I already knew this happened, but I hadn’t seen it yet. It was then that the first click came: where does swearing come from? Historical forces are allowing people to go in there and swear,” he explains.

During the meeting, the presenter asks the author what it is like to work on the topic of racism in the theater space. “Monkeys It’s a monologue as a result, because I spent years trying to put together a team that wanted to work with me. People said the topic was very arduous and difficult. Then I write, direct, interpret and it ends up becoming a monologue”, responds Clayton Nascimento.

The interview addresses other challenges, such as the development of academic production focused on knowledge from the periphery to the detriment of major European communication theories and the issues of black motherhood and young people whose futures are interrupted.
