After last week the Political Trial Commission of the Chamber of Deputies approved the admissibility of the trial against the Supreme Courtthis Thursday the legislators will meet to define the work schedule.
Given this, the investigation against the highest court continues with the collection of evidence and summons of witnesses that support the accusation against the four members of the Supreme Court: Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, Juan Carlos Maqueda and Ricardo Lorenzetti.
As there are 14 files on the table with different accusations against the judges of the Supreme Courtthe ruling party must decide which one to start with and based on that, gather testimonial evidence.
The meeting of the commission will be headed by the deputy of the Frente de Todos, Carolina Gaillard. The meeting will serve to prepare the list of guests who will be summoned in the coming weeks.
It is estimated that up to 6 testimonies are received per day, with which the evidence collection process will last for about three months, even four. Once this stage is completed, it must be decided whether an opinion will be issued to accuse each of the four judges.
According to what is defined this Thursday, the first batch of witnesses would be summoned for next February 24. In addition, the Commission plans to subpoena several officials of the highest court to account for some rulings and files.
The Minister of the Interior, Wado de Pedro, and the Treasury attorney, Carlos Zanini, will also be summoned to provide more details on the dispute between the Nation and the City of Buenos Aires over the co-participation funds.
Together for Change insists on opposing the trial
While the ruling party hopes to move forward with the investigation, The opposition maintains its rejection of the measure, with which it is expected that in the session called for today it will not give a quorum.
They also consider bringing their own witnesses to argue why the political trial of the Court “alters the democratic order” or supposes “an advance on the independence of Justice”.
