The former deputy is accused of participating in the murder of her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo, in June 2019.

The request for adjournment was made by Flordelis’ defense, on the grounds of the existence of reports that have not yet been added to the process and that are essential for the defense of the accused. In the petition, the defense also alleged the lack of time to analyze other new reports added to the process.

In the decision, Judge Nearis Arce, from the 3rd Criminal Court of Niterói, stated that the defense lawyers were instructed to appear at the registry office. On thursday (2) to obtain a copy of the documents, which did not occur.

“Mister [necessário] point out that the content of the reports that were not even prepared, obviously, was not accessed by the representative of the MP [Ministério Público] or by the assistance of the prosecution, as it must be stated that the patrons of the accused, despite being scientific [informados] personally by this magistrate and instructed, at her request, to appear in a notary’s office on the date of yesterday to obtain the copies corresponding to the last reports attached to the process in response to the request of the accused themselves, they left this service without doing so”, said the judge.

Even so, the judge decided to accept the defense’s request and postpone the jury trial until the end of the year, in order to guarantee the principles of contradictory and ample defense.

The trials of Marzy Teixeira da Silva, Flordelis’ daughter, and Rayane dos Santos Oliveira, granddaughter of the former deputy, were also postponed.
