Experts in psychology agree that violence against women presents men with common symptoms, and that the problem is growing in levels.
the psychologist Lourdes Ostertagspecialized in private consultations and therapy, pointed out that violence against women has an important basis in the educationand that males with these characteristics have common symptoms.
The professional indicated that in therapies with women who suffer violence from their partners, the verbal attacks used by men to put pressure on them.
“The whore’s broken record, that she is a whore, is raised on a recurring basis. Hundreds of women living and suffering show stories of messages… 80 to 100 messages per day (using verbal violence). That is one of the profiles of the violent man,” Ostertag said at 1080 AM, when approached on the subject.
He added that another of the elements that emerge as symptoms is the control that, sometimes progressively, other times in an accelerated manner, are applied by men against their partners. They check their cell phones, ask who they meet with, who they hang out with, prohibit certain friendships, question the way they dress and other types of “prohibitions”.
Ostertag stated that education to minimize the expansion of machismo involves the media in an important place. He expressed that It cannot be classified as a mere crime of passion when a man murders his wife. “You cannot talk about a crime of passion, it is a crime of hate, impotence, not passion, you have to call things by their name,” he said.
The violent man, he adds, “is believes owner of the body and life of women, be wife, lover, girlfriend. But that sense of ownership of hers makes him believe that he is in control of her and when he gets out of control, when she wants to end the relationship, apply if it is not mine it will not belong to anyone”, it meant.
It should be noted that the last episode of femicide, in which a police officer murdered a teacher with whom he allegedly had a sentimental relationship, once again sparked the debate on the phenomenon that has become a social problem for some time.
