Two officials of the Guárico state Police and a first sergeant of the National Guard (GN) died in a confrontation with members of the Tren del Llano criminal gang.
The incident occurred in the rural sector of Tucupido, José Félix Ribas municipality, on the night of Friday, December 27, reported the authorities, deployed in the area in search of the murderers.
According to a police report, the deceased were identified as officers Wuither Torres Bastardo (31) and Marco Daniel Gutiérrez, wounded by a gunshot to the head, and Sergeant Arnaldo José Vivas, assigned to the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas) of the National Guard (GN). He was shot in the abdomen.
Torres Bastardo died at the scene of the confrontation; Gutiérrez and Vivas were taken injured to the Pedro del Corral hospital, but they arrived without vital signs.
