An earthquake of Magnitude 4 was recorded this afternoon in Arequipaat 1:00 pm According to the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP), the epicenter of the tremor was located at 9 kilometers northwest of the province of Camaná, at a depth of 62 kilometers.
According to the seismic report, the intensity of the earthquake was felt in Camaná with levels of II to III on the intensity scale, which indicates that it was perceived by the population, without causing damage material or personal.
According to information from the IGP, so far this year, the Peru endured 704 earthquakesof the which 93 occurred in the Arequipa regionthe most recurring provinces being Camaná, Caravelí, Camaná. Earthquake movements vary from magnitude 3 to 5.8.
The tremors remind residents of the importance of being prepared in emergency situations, which means having the emergency backpack and that the country is in the ring of fire.
