The Constitution Commission of the Chamber of Deputies postponed this Tuesday the treatment of the controversial project of “Law to Strengthen the Fight Against the Legitimation of Illicit Gains”after the Minister of Justice, Iván Lima, did not appear to defend said initiative.
The deputy of Comunidad Ciudadana (CC) Carlos Alarcón said that “the Minister of Justice ran out of the debate because he did not come to defend his bloody Law 280”.
Lima justified his absence with the “pretext that reasons for the agenda prevented him from (attending, but in reality) he has escaped from the debate, from public opinion, because the idea was (to hold) an open session, a public hearing , so that all citizens see who is right”, affirmed the opposition deputy.
The president of the Constitution Commission, Juan José Jáuregui (MAS), before withdrawing from the session, emphatically stated that they will not turn said legislative space into a “scenario to continue misinforming”.
“To the extent that the conditions already exist and there is again the possibility of setting up the session again to discuss this project, it will be done and with all sectors,” added the pro-government legislator.
However, what happened is that “when we showed Jauregui that the six criminal figures of this cursed law 280 are the same ones that were already in the (other regulations), which were archived due to the people’s protest, and that ( this new project) should be put to a vote to also be archived, (the deputy) got up from his seat and left,” Alarcón said.
In addition to the country’s political opposition, the questioned bill is also rejected by some social sectors such as trade unions, who through their leaders declared an emergency.
