Due to the increases in fuel prices around the world, since March, the Treasury has not charged the federal IEPS tax on Magna and Premium gasoline, nor on diesel, which is mostly used for the transport of goods and people in trucks.
Next Friday will mark 12 continuous weeks of the 100% subsidy for gasoline by IEPS, the objective is that gasoline prices do not rise above inflation.
Compared to the same period last year, IEPS tax collection on gasoline and diesel fell 79.4%. From January to April 2021, the SHCP collected 91,337 million pesos, the updated figures stand out.
Only in April, the collection of the federal IEPS for gasoline was negative by 542 million pesos.
According to the Tax Administration Service (SAT), for this subsidy and the additional ones through ISR and VAT to producers and refiners, this year 400,000 million pesos will not be collected.
The fiscal authority assures that these shortages will be compensated with the excess oil revenues obtained from the rise in the price of the Mexican oil mixture.
However, the surplus oil revenues were less than the shortfalls due to IEPS, reporting 44,961 million pesos more than what was scheduled from January to April.
