The Treasury also informed that it will continue with the complementary stimuli for gasoline importers and refiners. The stimulus will be 7.01 pesos per liter of magna, 7.98 pesos per liter of Premium and 7.71 pesos per liter of diesel.
The gasoline subsidy has caused a loss of 94.5 billion pesos from January to May, according to information published by the Tax Administration Service (SAT) on June 13.
“The prices of gasoline, diesel or electricity will not increase,” said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, commenting at the morning conference this Friday.
“Inflation is a serious problem, but we are doing what corresponds to us to control it and that it does not affect us in our economy, especially in the popular economy,” he added.
López Obrador highlighted that while in the six-year terms of Felipe Calderón and Enrique Peña Nieto, magna gasoline had increases of 22.9% and 42.8%, respectively; As of April 2022, there has been a decrease of 3.4%.
He added that with Calderón Premium gasoline increased 49.9%, with Peña Nieto 48.6% and until April of this year it has registered a decrease of 3.9%.
Regarding diesel, López Obrador commented that in his government it has had a decrease of 3.9%, while with Peña Nieto it had an increase of 48.6% and with Felipe Calderón 49.9%.
The president highlighted that energy had an impact of 0.6% on inflation in May.
He also recognized that work has to be done to reduce the impact of food on the national consumer price index, which last month was 3.5%. To deal with this situation, he pointed out, local production must be increased.
