Previously, through a statement posted on social media, the taxi drivers are planning blockades at the Arco Norte and Atlacomulco – Toluca; to demand that the governor of the state, Delfina Gómez Álvarez and the head of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico, (FGJEM), José Luis Cervantes Martínez, intervene with actions to eliminate the extortion and threats of which they are victims, they say.
The drivers demand “prompt attention to the multiple complaints we have made over the past several months, because we are victims of extortion, abuse of authority and burning of vehicles by criminal groups that have tried to force us to abandon our sources of employment,” the statement said.
Taxi drivers also denounce the Jilotepec municipal government for not providing assistance to drivers, depriving them of their jobs and not providing transport guarantees. They also accuse omission since they have been denouncing the burning of units for months.
The heavy-duty transport units are located at the Tepotzotlán toll booth, State of Mexico, heading towards Mexico City, where they have been gathered since approximately 7:00 a.m.
There is also a group of transporters who are members of the Alliance of Transporters, Merchants and Associates of Mexico (ACME) in the area.
There was still traffic on the motorway until 9:00 a.m.
