Tepotzotlán, Mex., Transporters from the state of Mexico, supported by tow truck drivers and taxi drivers, gathered from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on three sections of the Mexico-Querétaro highway; simultaneously they stationed themselves in front of the regional offices of the Ministry of Mobility (Semov) to demand that the government put a stop to extortionists, assaults and the burning of their vehicles. Traffic was affected due to the occupation of the side lanes.

Members of the Union of Transporters of Personnel Transport Units and Taxi Drivers Organizations of Jilotepec claimed that the PRI mayor of Jilotepec, Rodolfo Nogués, is not addressing their demand to provide security in that municipality.

During the protest, the complainants asked Governor Delfina Gómez and the Attorney General of the State of Mexico, José Luis Cervantes, for a solution to the attacks they are subjected to by criminal groups.

The protesters demonstrated for more than six hours on the Mexico-Querétaro highway near the municipalities of Jilotepec, Coyotepec and at the Tepotzotlán toll booth. Meanwhile, another group gathered outside the Semov, in Tlalnepantla, and in front of the regional headquarters of the state agency, where they parked dozens of vehicles in the central and side lanes of Gustavo Baz and Mario Colín avenues, affecting traffic in the direction of Tlalnepantla, Naucalpan and Atizapán de Zaragoza.

Minutes after 3 p.m., a commission that was attended by authorities from the Semov reported that they promised to follow up on their allegations and that the prosecutor’s office will address the complaints about the criminal acts.
