The Minister of Transport, Alexis Guerrera, and the Rector of the National University of Rosario, Franco Bartolacci, endorsed a Technical Assistance Agreement between the national ministry and this Santa Fe house of higher studies, for the preparation of reports, audits and opinions Useful technicians for the control and prevention of environmental impacts in tasks related to the management of the waterway.

The university will be in charge of different tasks, initially to prepare a report that accounts for the degree of compliance by the concessionaire with the environmental obligations that arose from the concession contract that ended in 2021, and will develop reports in which they are analyzed comprehensively each one of the aspects of the current Environmental Management Plans for the tasks of dredging and marking of the Main Navigable Way.

In that sense, A report will be prepared that accounts for the degree of compliance by the current concessionaire with the environmental obligations arising from local or national regulations. of application on its activity, which occurred from the beginning of the concession to date, the degree of compliance with these by the current operator and the detected breaches of said obligations.

Among the activities entrusted, the UNR will prepare a technical opinion regarding the environmental feasibility of the project for the execution of the tasks of dredging and marking of the main waterway.

Minister Guerrera was accompanied by the Secretary of Transportation of the Nation, Diego Giuliano, and the Rector, the director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, Dario Maiorana, among other authorities, and the agreement has a duration of one year to carry out the tasks.

On Friday, in the city of Rosario, the meeting of the Federal Waterway Council took place and gave way to the first session of the Board of Directors of the National Control and Management Entity that will carry out the bidding process for the Paraná-Paraguay Navigable Route, and whose meeting it represents a fully federal vision since it had the participation of the seven riverside provinces, “an event that has not happened in the last 26 years,” said the statement from the portfolio led by Guerrera.

The Navigable Way is a 1,635-kilometre river route that allows different types of cargo vessels to go out to the oceanand its trace is partially expressed in the Paraná, Paraná de las Palmas, and Río de la Plata rivers, constituting an outlet channel for approximately 80% of national exports.
