During a new work table led by the Ministry of the Interior, transport unions announced the suspension of the strike called for Tuesday, November 12, and also welcomed the holding of APEC 2024.
The Minister highlighted that they continue to work jointly with different transport unions in the country, in order to coordinate joint actions that allow establishing alternative solutions against crime.
“We are going to suspend the strike on November 12, because we have already reached an agreement with the Ministry of the Interior and the idea has always been to work in a coordinated manner for the well-being of Peruvians. We are not against instability, on the contrary, we are in favor of the stability of Peru“, said the president of the Union of Multimodal Transport Guilds (Ugtranm), Marco Aguirre Valencia.
This meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior, headed by the vice ministers of Public Security, Julio Díaz Zulueta, and of Internal Order, César Guardia.
Formal transporters announce that they will not join the strike during the APEC Forum after a meeting with the Government
Gustavo Adrianzén, president of the Council of Ministers, met this Thursday with representatives of various formal transport unions, who assure that they will not join the strike called from November 13 to 15, dates that coincide with the APEC Forum.
The president of the Transitemos Foundation, Edwin Derteano, assured that those who call for these strikes have other purposes.
The director of the International Chamber of the Transport Industry, Martín Ojeda, stated that formal unions in the country do not commit to violent actions, especially during the APEC Forum.
After meeting with the formal transport unions, Adrianzén maintained that they “showed their solidarity” by not protesting within the framework of APEC.
“We have heard how harmful informality in the country is for transportation. How dangerous it is for citizens to have informality in transportation. We have heard the support that this formal transport union has made to the statement that calls for peace, security, and tranquility during the APEC day.“, held.
