The head of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP), José Luis Falero, signed agreements this Friday 30, by which five organizations will be able, through the Social Agreements program, to renovate their facilities with the support of 18,700,000 pesos from the portfolio and another two made improvements with a contribution of 8,400,000 pesos. The hierarch also led inaugurations in various parts of Montevideo.
Falero, in his oratory, pointed out the importance of social agreements to promote the development of organizations. “It is possible to grow as an institution and provide better facilities, and that is what the program is for,” he said. The Secretary of State explained that the entities are committed to providing their facilities for nearby educational centers, thus benefiting the community.
On this day, agreements were signed with the social and sports institutions Juventud Melilla, which will have 2,600,000 pesos for the construction of a lounge, kitchen and bathroom, and Centro Recreativo Lira, which will access 2,800,000 to heat the pool and adapt the locker rooms, among other improvements.
Agreements were also signed with the men’s Cottolengo Don Orione, for 5,000,000 pesos, in order to refurbish the kitchen and the side access, and with the women’s, for 3,600,000 pesos, for the first stage of Firefighters qualification and readjust the electrical installation.
In the case of the Providencia educational institution, the support of 4,700,000 pesos will be used to expand classrooms, pantries, teachers’ room and accesses in the educational center.
In addition, the works to adapt the roof, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms of the headquarters building of the Uruguayan Red Cross were inaugurated, with a contribution of 3,200,000 pesos. Likewise, the works of the Association for the Recovery of the Invalid were presented. In this case, the aid of 5,200,000 pesos from the MTOP made it possible to replace the upper roof of the gym and build bedrooms with toilets.
