Transport inaugurated works developed through the Social Agreements program

The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, José Luis Falero, participated in the inaugurations of the repair and refurbishment of the National Pro Labor Organization for the Disabled (Onpli) and the Flor de Maroñas baby soccer club; he also signed an agreement with the institution La Educadora Uruguaya. Annually, the portfolio contributes 140,000,000 pesos to the Social Agreements program.

The visit to the inaugurations took place this Friday, the 3rd, and was attended, in addition to Falero, by Undersecretary Juan José Olaizola and the National Director of Architecture, Santiago Borsari, among other departmental and local authorities.

“From the ministry, through the Social Agreements program, we want to support this type of institution that has a strong social impact,” said José Luis Falero and clarified that, in addition to money, technical advice is provided for the construction of community works in the entire national territory.

On the occasion, he reported that in this period of government the item for the program was doubled, which means an approximate investment of 140,000,000 pesos per year. Likewise, he assured that the priority is to support organizations dedicated to the care of children and adolescents, the elderly and the disabled. “Many times, if it is not for the support of the State, these things would not be achieved,” he added.

In Onpli, the ministry contributed about 2,500,000 pesos for the repair of bathrooms, kitchen and classrooms. Restorations were also carried out in the building infrastructure.

The non-profit institution works on professional training and job placement for people with disabilities, through workshops that also generate financial resources to support their activities. Controlled sports are also practiced and social, recreational, educational and cultural meetings are held.

In the Flor de Maroñas baby soccer club, the ministry contributed 3,000,000 pesos for the works. In the institution, sports activities, days of coexistence and a picnic area are developed. School, therapeutic and psychological support is also provided.
