In the last report of the National Administrative Department of Statistics on the Road Freight Transport Cost Index (ICTC) and the Intermunicipal Passenger Transport Cost Index (ICTIP), the significant rise in costs in this sector was revealed.

For its part, the ICTC for September 2022 showed a monthly variation compared to August 2022, however, compared to September 2021 it already accumulates a rise of 10.75%.
The items with the highest increase were ‘parts, pieces, maintenance and repair services’ (0.56%), ‘fixed costs and tolls’ (0.90%) and ‘inputs’ (1.02%) which registered variations above the national average.

The subcategory with the highest increase was ‘cost of the vehicle and its leverage’, which had a monthly variation of 2.51% and a contribution of 0.34 pp
Regarding the ICTIP, the report also revealed that in the third quarter (July-September) of 2022, it presented a quarterly variation of 2.54%, compared to the second quarter (April-June) of 2022 and on an annual basis already added an increase of 10.72% (July-September 2021).
Added to this strong quarterly increase is the category of ‘fuels’ (1.36%) which, although they presented a variation below the national average, contributed to this rise. On the other hand, the groups ‘parts, pieces, maintenance and repair services’ (3.68%), ‘inputs’ (4.15%) and ‘fixed costs’ (4.43%) registered variations above the average national.
As in the ICTC, the subcategory ‘cost of the vehicle and its leverage’ presented a significant quarterly variation of 15.09% and a contribution of 1.65 ppA this is followed by ‘parts and pieces used in the engine’ with an increase of 6.22% and ‘parts and pieces used in the brakes’ with 5.56%.
At the moment, the category of fuels has a relatively stable variation since the National Government announced that the increase in ACPM and diesel would take place from the year 2023, touching the pockets of the transporters.
