The Transparency Civil Association rejected the decision of the Congresstaken yesterday by a majority, to alter the current electoral schedule, being only three weeks away from the internal elections of the parties.
“Transparency rejects the decision of Congress to alter the schedule of an electoral process underway just 3 weeks before the internal elections. This violates essential electoral principles and, together with the reduction of sanctions, creates a very dangerous precedent for future elections.”he wrote on his Twitter account.
Yesterday, the Congress of the Republic approved a substitute text that grants an exceptional term for the registration of the list of candidates for internal elections, within the framework of the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections.
By 83 votes in favor, 30 against and 2 abstentions, the national representation gave the green light to the substitute text of bill 1756, supported by the president of the Constitution Commission, Patricia Juárez (Popular Force).
The approved rule authorizes the National Elections Jury (JNE) to order the opening of the Jurisdictional Integrated File System (SIJE) Declara Internas for two days for the presentation or modification of candidate lists.
It also grants an exceptional term for the holding of complementary internal elections, in case the internal elections are not held on the indicated date, up to 10 days before the deadline for registration of candidates before the Special Electoral Juries (JEE), in accordance with to the schedule prepared by the JNE.
