The transition team of the elected government must propose the revocation of the decrees edited by President Jair Bolsonaro that facilitated the purchase of firearms and ammunition in the countrysaid today (17) Flávio Dino, former judge, former governor of Maranhão and senator elected by the PSB-MA, who is part of the Justice and Public Security working group of the transitional government.
“With regard to weapons, there is no doubt that today we have a disagreement between the 2003 law, the Disarmament Statute [Lei 10.826/2003], and decrees and ordinances. So, surely, one of the first products of the working group will be this suggestion to the president [Lula]of revocation of acts that recompose, for the future, the control system, and we put an end to the general release”, said Dino.
According to him, suggestions for repealing acts will be presented by November 30 to the coordinator of the technical groups, Aloizio Mercadante, says Dino.
During the meeting, this Thursday morning, the dynamics of the group’s work was defined. According to Dino, there will be thematic reports according to the priorities established by the president-elect’s government program, such as disarmament, the Amazon, the structuring of the single public security system, digital crimes and crimes against the democratic rule of law .
“For each of these themes there will be a report and audiences will emerge with segments, corporations, specialists, and sectorial reports that will compose the general report. This sectoral report will contain proposals for repealing and editing new normative acts”, he explained. The overall transition report will be presented by December 10th.
“The theme of the Amazon will also be an important focus in view of the commitments that the president assumed at COP27, the elimination of deforestation by 2030, which presupposes the full recovery of territorial control in the Brazilian Amazon”, said Dino.
This afternoon, members of the group have a meeting with the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres. The objective, according to Dino, is to establish a transparent dialogue in the transition and a commitment to administrative continuity, based on information that must be provided by the current government team.
“Of course, it is a government [eleito] with proposals for changes, from another political field, but in the administrative field, whatever it is possible to continue, of course we will do it. There is no vision, in relation to the area of Justice and Public Security, that everything will stop and start from scratch”, said Flávio Dino, as he left the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB), where the president-elect’s office is located. , Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
