HAVANA, Cuba.- The Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) launched a new version of the Transfermóvil application that allows the purchase of digital stamps for procedures in offices of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).
Given the increase in Cubans carrying out procedures at immigration offices due to President Joe Biden’s new humanitarian parole law, the telecommunications company updated to version 1.230117 of the Android application used in Cuba for digital commerce operations.
“The new version of Transfermóvil 1.230117 now allows the purchase of digital stamps for procedures in the offices of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). In this first stage, they can be used in those related to Passports and Identity Cards, later they will be expanded for other procedures,” announced the group of Facebook “Transfermóvil Cuba”, which has more than 41,000 followers.
To purchase a stamp, you must access the platform with the user’s password, then choose the bank where you want to operate and the ONAT option, select the “timbre stamps” section and select the “MININT Procedures” option. .
On that same screen you must fill in other additional information such as card number, province, municipality, name of the stamp you want to acquire and type of account to operate.
After making the payment, a confirmation message (SMS) is received: “The payment of the tax on the document (stamp) was completed”.
It should be noted that before the new immigration law the stamps were already scarce of any denomination although they could be found in the informal market.
A week ago Correos de Cuba explained that in 2022 “the market studies for the production in Cuba of the ISD stamps, including the reserve that is always foreseen, were exceeded several times by the demand, based on the new international and national regulations put into force that are not foreseen (such as the so-called Spanish Grandchildren Law) and others approved in the country, which generated a much higher demand for this type of stamp than was conceived and, consequently, the crisis was created”.
At the time of writing this note, the new version of Transfermóvil is not available on the Official Etecsa. However, it can be downloaded in a support group on Telegram “transfermóvil”, who warn that “they are not an official account”.
