Trans deputy apologizes to Creel for the “shameful scene” yesterday in San Lázaro

The trans federal legislator María Clemente García Moreno apologized to Santiago Creel, vice president of the board of directors of the Chamber of Deputies, for the incident recorded on Thursday, which was accepted by the former Secretary of the Interior.

In the session the day before yesterday, García Moreno forced Creel, with shoves, to leave the seat he occupied as acting president of the assembly. This in the heat of a bitter debate originated after the deputy Gabriel Quadri called Mr. Luevano to the also trans deputy Salma Luévano.

After the criticism generated by the event, María Clemente wrote on Twitter: “What a big mess. Duty does not oblige me, but with all my heart I offer my most sincere apologies to Deputy Santiago Creel Miranda.

My behavior was not correct, on the contrary, it was disrespectful, with the same heart I apologize to the people of Mexico for witnessing such a shameful scene, you deserve the best of us, today you did not have it. I sincerely wish you receive my apologies.

Creel Miranda replied: Deputy María Clemente, making mistakes is a condition for everyone, apologizing is a rare virtue that I value and appreciate, let’s look ahead, let’s turn the page.

The trans deputy, who declared herself independent after coming to office under the acronym of Morena, added: I appreciate your empathy and understanding, deputy, I wish I had received yesterday from the deputies of Morena half of the nobility that I receive from you today.

This is not the first incident recorded in the Chamber of Deputies due to Quadri’s statements against trans women.

Jorge Álvarez Maynez, coordinator of the Citizen Movement in San Lázaro, summed up the situation yesterday: on Trans Awareness Day, this gentleman (Quadri) called a trans woman sir.
