The Trasandino Railway, official operator of the railway on the Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu route, indicated, through a statement, that the railway can now be operated in the region.

This section had been suspended after protests by demonstrators in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where several points of the railway were blocked.

After the permission for operations, PeruRail announced this Saturday the departure of a single service to “rescue” locals and tourists stranded in Machu Picchu Pueblo.
It was also confirmed that regular operations will take place early this Sunday and in all modalities.
Services are expected to continue for the next week, however the protesters have indicated that they will resume their protest on Monday.
Meanwhile in Cusco there is a calm trend, after the demonstrations against the government of Dina Boluarte, which has already left one dead and fifty injured.
