With the culmination of the fifth date of the Aviru Trail Club trail running championship, on November 20, in General Eugenio A. Garay, Guairá, the ranking of the champions of the distances of 10, 20 and 30 km was defined.
In the test with a greater distance of 30 km, Cristian Aranda was crowned champion with 2,376 accumulated points, second place went to Juan Bandeo with 1,758 points and third place for Héctor Ayala with 1,698 points.
In the women’s 30 km, María José Sotelo became champion, with 1,967 points, followed by Alice Meza with 1,881 and in third place Liz Báez with 1,650 points. In the distance of 20 km, in the male branch, Tobías Paniagua was the best with 1,440 points, followed by Félix Alcaraz with 1,139 points and in third place Diego Domínguez with 1,006 points accumulated during the year.

For the women who ran 20 km, Rosana Fariña won first place with 1,096 points, Verónica Gaona was second with 1,060 points and Marisa Kuzeluk third with 1,048 points. In the 10Km distance, male, Aarón González was first with 682 points, Carlos Bernal second with 660 points and Marcos Ruiz third with 629 points. In the women’s 10 km, Melissa Chamorro was first with 622 pointsFabiana Melgarejo second with 519 points and Norma Román with 499 points.
The president of the Aviru Trail Club, Andrés Canese, highlighted that the club’s trail running races have the characteristics of running through nature in wild environments, going through hills, meadows and streams, in harmony with the environment.
In this sense, the trophies delivered as symbols of the jungle, were representative crafts of wild birds, made by the artisan Edgar Pérez, from the city of Altos.

The Aviru Trail Club championship had five dates: Nueva Colombia-Cordillera, Atyra-Cordillera, Colonia Independencia-Guairá, Paraguarí-Paraguarí and General Eugenio A. Garay-Guairá. To determine the champions for each distance, the runners added points for the distance, the altimetry and the position of arrival at the finish line, in the five competitions of the year.
