A four year old boy died after an emergency registered in the San Vicente Thermal Reserve complexin Saint Rose of Cabalin the department of Risaralda. The minor was there accompanied by family members when he was found inside one of the pools and, despite attempts to help, he lost his life due to drowning.
Ramón Antonio López, the minor’s grandfather, said that he had the child under his care and that he lost sight of him for a moment while they were sharing the facilities. Minutes later, other visitors warned about the presence of the minor in the pool; Several people entered the water and pulled him out to help him while they requested support.
“The boy started talking to another minor, I lost sight of him for a moment and I started looking for him, when I asked the child who was with him he told me that ‘he died’, when I went down to the pool again a man who was there took him out because he had sunk, since that water was so dirty, nothing could be seen and I went crazy,” said the minor’s grandfather.
He added that: “Those who were there had a lot of will, but they didn’t know anything about those things, a girl was giving him a resuscitation device and on the phone I asked someone how they handled themselves, that was more negligence Because the child was alive when they took him out and squeezed his chest, water came out of his mouth.”

The child was rushed to the Santa Clara Clinicwhere he was admitted without vital signs, there the medical diagnosis determined the cause of death to be drowning by immersion.

For its part, San Vicente Thermal Reserve reported that, when the situation was detected, they immediately activated the internal response protocolswith the intervention of the brigade and first aid team. They indicated that, with the voluntary support of a doctor present at the scene, advanced resuscitation maneuvers and support with automatic defibrillator until the priority delivery of the minor to medical care personnel.
