Bani.- A mother and her son drowned on Sunday afternoon on Salinas beach, in Baní, Peravia province, while another of her children managed to survive thanks to the quick intervention of people who were near the scene.

The victims were identified as Eridania Rodríguez Peguero51 years old, a teacher residing in the province of San Pedro de Macorís, and her son Alexandro Alemán Rodríguez11 years old.

The youngest survivor, Heriberto Alemán Rodríguez14 years old, was rescued by bathers and transferred by a 9-1-1 ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de Regla provincial hospital, where he receives medical care.

According to reports, the three were bathing in a prohibited area of ​​Salinas beach known as The Hole.

The medical examiner Gerlina Medina Senatogether with the magistrate Gaudy Castillo and Scientific Police personnel carried out the removal of the bodies, which were transferred to the morgue of the Nuestra Señora de Regla hospital.
