A tragedy occurred in the historic center of Ayacucho, after part of the structure of the Church of the Company of Jesus, belonging to the Archbishopric of Ayacucho, suddenly collapsed.

The collapse affected a section of the roof and a side wall of the viceregal temple, located in front of the main square, falling on people who were in the stands and around the place. Witnesses indicated that several of them were waiting their turn to carry out procedures at a nearby Banco de la Nación agency.

According to preliminary information, one person lost his life at the scene and several were injured, being immediately taken to health centers. It was learned that the deceased would be a father, leaving three minors orphaned.
Emergency teams, together with police officers and Archbishopric personnel, carry out debris removal and structural verification to avoid new risks in this construction of high historical value.
