Police officers from the Iquipí police station, in joint work with the night watchmen of the Río Grande district of the province of Condesuyos, recovered the bodies of two women early yesterday morning, who were at the bottom of a ravine approximately 50 meters deep, in an area that was difficult to access.
According to preliminary investigations by the National Police, the tragedy occurred on December 26. The victims would have fallen into the void while trying to use a lifta sliding basket used to cross rivers or chasms, which was inoperative in the sector of High Mill. The poor state of this infrastructure would have been the determining factor for both women to fall to the bottom of an almost vertical slope.

One of the deceased was identified as Cristina Elián Mateo de Martínez, 25 years old. His relatives, immersed in pain, were present in the area to demand speed in the proceedings and the immediate delivery of his remains. After the legal examinations in the morgue, they plan to transport the body to the city of Lima to provide it with a Christian burial.

The night watchmen of the provincial municipality and police officers from the Palacio Viejo police station reported the discovery of the body of Félix Cruz Torres, 70 years old. The body was located at the intersection of Tristán and La Merced streets.
