A traffic agent from Floridablanca, Santander, identified as Ricardo Chacón, 55, was run over on November 4 by a motorcyclist who fled in the middle of a mobility control operation.

During a joint traffic control operation between the National Police and Floridablanca traffic agents, one of the drivers apparently did not obey the order to stop. In his attempt to evade control, he fled, running over the agent, who was left unconscious on the road.
Two people were traveling on the motorcycle, but although the identity of the driver is unknown, they both quickly fled the scene, leaving the agent lying on the asphalt.

Brain-dead traffic officer
After the accident, Agent Chacón was immediately taken by ambulance to a medical center, where doctors confirmed the serious injuries suffered. According to the newspaper Vanguardia, due to the magnitude of the blows and the brain damage suffered, Chacón was declared brain dead.
“We were working with the police at the Molinos roundabout, the main road that goes to Cañaveral, when a fellow passenger was run over by a motorcyclist who was carrying a griller. They fled the scene of the incident,” Floridablanca Transit sources told the media. .
Mayor José Fernando Sánchez expressed his regret for the tragic incident and expressed his support for the family of Ricardo Chacón. “The National Police is searching for the motorist responsible for the situation in which our great friend and official Ricardo Chacón finds himself,” the local president wrote on his account. x.

In an effort to find the whereabouts of the motorcyclist responsible, authorities have offered a reward of up to 10 million pesos to those who provide key information to identify and capture the fugitive.
