Traffic Code 2025: This infraction can cost you more than you think in Colombia

Compliance with Transit Standards It is not only a matter of road safety, but also of economic responsibility. And the National Traffic Code of Colombia aims to improve the fluidity in the tracks and in turn to reduce the risks associated with irresponsible behaviors behind the wheel. What happens if this rule ignores? How much can it cost to your pocket?

The legal framework for the year 2025 It includes adjustments in economic sanctions, including a fine that, although it seems less and tends to be thought of as harmless, not only puts road safety at risk, but can generate a considerable impact on the offenders’ pocket.

The code clearly establishes that each conductor must adapt to the dynamics of traffic according to the type of route, taking into account the respective function of each lane and its speed limit. In this regard, the norm emphasizes the rapid traffic lanes that are intended for vehicles that maintain speeds according to the road.

However, frequent behavior – and dangerous – is slowly circularly through these lanes, hindering vehicular flow. This infraction, although common, has been treated more rigorly under the new code. To correct this type of behavior, a specific sanction was implemented, known as fine C25, Applicable to those who prevent the normal advance of traffic through the left or fast lane.

Fine C25: What you should know

According to the National Traffic Code 2025, the C25 infraction imposes an economic sanction equivalent to 52.29 units of basic value (UVB). For this year, the value of each UVB was set at $ 11,552 pesos, which means that this fine has a total cost of $ 604,100 pesos, a figure that can represent a strong load for the average citizen, especially since it is an avoidable infraction.

However, the same code contemplates important reductions for soon payment. If the sanctioned driver makes the payment within the first five business days, he may pay only 50% of the total, that is, 302,050 pesos. In case of paying between 6 and 20 business days, a 25%discount may be accepted, canceling 453,075 pesos. After that period, you must pay the full value.

This measure not only seeks to improve mobility in cities with high levels of congestion, but also prevent accidents caused by sudden brakingsudden changes of lane or collisions per reach. And although for many conductors this behavior does not seem serious, the infraction is stipulated as a considerable fault in current regulations.

This type of infraction reminds drivers to comply with traffic standards not only avoids sanctions, but also protects lives. And in that sense respect the function of each lane, maintain adequate speed and not hinder traffic are acts of citizen consciousness that, ultimately, favor everyone.
