MIAMI, United States.- A traffic accident that occurred this Saturday afternoon at kilometer 6 of the highway to San Juan y Martínez, in the municipal seat of the province of Pinar del Río, left four dead and four injured according to journalist Evelyn Corbillón Díaz, from the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
The reporter explained on the social network of Twitter that one of the deceased is a teenager. “Four deceased and four injured is the preliminary balance of a traffic accident that occurred this afternoon at kilometer 6 of the highway to San Juan y Martínez, in the municipality of Pinar del Río. One of the deceased is a teenager,” wrote Corbillón Díaz.
So far “two minors remain in the Pepe Portilla pediatric hospital, reported in serious condition,” the journalist added.
Likewise, he explained, also on the social network that “the highest authorities of the Party and the Government went to the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado hospital, where two injured remain: one reported seriously and another with injuries to lower limbs.”
The accident occurred when a light car collided with a Cupet tanker car without fuel, after the former lost control after a tire burst. Multidisciplinary teams attend to the victims in the institutions of the western territory”, said the ACN correspondent.
Dr. Yohan Manuel Álvarez Rivera, deputy director general of the Abel Santamaría Cuadrado Hospital, asserted that as soon as they learned of the accident, the protocol established for these cases was activated, with specialists and diagnostic means ready, reads a note from the Cuban News Agency.
