The representatives of the union sector warned on Monday to the entrepreneurs that the National Salary Committee has the ability to issue a resolution on the increase in the minimum non -sectorized salary, which involves two of the sectors that participate in the tripartite dialogue.
According to Jacobo Ramos, president of the National Confederation of Dominican Workers (CNTD), on the table are the proposals of the union centrals, which consist of an increase of 30%, and that of the Dominican government, of 20%. However, the business sector, so far, has not submitted a reasonable proposal, which is delaying the process.
«Here are two proposals at the table, only that of the business sector is missing, the government has raised 20% and we have raised 30%. Hopefully today they come with a reasonable proposal, if they don’t The country must be remembered that the salary committee has the capacity to take a resolution of two sectorsand it seems to me that this is what will happen, due to the delay they are observing in businessmen so far with the issue of wages, ”said Ramos.

For his part, the president of the National Confederation of Trade Union Unit (CNUS), Rafael Abreu (Pepe), He said: «We We do not want to sow the false idea that today there will be a solution… It depends a lot on the disposition that government delegates have, because if they accept, since there is a proposal of the president, vote with us for an amount, which can be perfectly 30%, we resolve this today ».
Meanwhile, César Dargam, Vice President of the National Council of Private Company (CONEP), reported that entrepreneurs are evaluating the criteria that must be taken into account for the discussion about the salary increase.
«That conversation will take place in the National Salary Committee. There are many criteria, we have to take into account What has been accumulated inflation In the Dominican Republic in the last two years … what is the Productivity Indexwhich Informality In the Dominican Republic, and all that kind of things are being seen, ”said Dargam.
“I believe that expectations should be that we achieve that consensus and that something that benefits everyone is announced to the country,” added the businessman.
