The announcement was held after a meeting with the president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santosin which the senator gave guarantees that the unemployment will not be modified in any of his versions, as was raised in the project of modification of the modification of the Labor Code
Ricardo de los Santos said that as a congress he is willing to receive businessmen in the country to arrive at an agreement that favors all workers.
“Today we have the labor sector here and we are willing to receive the business sector, because what we are looking for is precisely that there is work peace in the Dominican Republic and that the rights of workers remain intact. We are looking to build the highest possible level of consensus with the Labor Code,” he said.

Of the saints he declared that the National Congress is willing to listen to all the sectors involved in this law, and that, although not everyone agrees with the code reform, he recalled that they must be open to socialize all the opinions around the project.
Meanwhile, that the spokesman of the negotiating commission that has taken this process since 2013, Rafael Abreu, said they suspend the action plan, in view of the commitment assumed by the president of the Senate.
“By virtue of the call made by the president of the Senate, and because of the guarantee that the rights of the workers would not be touched, especially the unemployment, in any of their modalities, it forces us, from here, to communicate to all the affiliates to our confederations that the vigil of Wednesday is left without effect and that we hope that the process of this preliminary draft of the law in the chamber of the Senate is definitively exhausted.
