Toyota do Brasil reported on Friday (3) that will gradually resume the production of vehicles in the country from November 3, in the factories of Sorocaba and Indaiatuba, in São Paulo. The third unit of the automaker in Brazil, in Porto Feliz, also in São Paulo, where the brand’s engines were manufactured, has no deadline to return to run.
The automaker’s three plants in Brazil had been paralyzed since a gale partially destroyed the Porto Feliz factory on September 22.
“The resumption will occur with engines and pieces imported from other units abroad. In this first stage, Toyota do Brasil will produce the hybrid versions of Corolla and Corolla Cross models, for both domestic and export markets, and the production plan for November and December includes the recovery of the volume of hybrid vehicles not produced between September 23 and October 31,” the automaker said in a statement.
With the return of production in the factories of Sorocaba and Indaiatuba, the automaker decided that the temporary suspension of an employment contract (lay-off) will be applied only to workers from Porto Feliz. Those from Sorocaba and Indaiatuba are expected to return to work on October 21, after the emergency vacation.
According to Toyota do Brasil, only in January 2026 will the production of vehicles with conventional engines be resumed for both the Brazilian market and export, covering those of the current production line – Corolla and Corolla Cross, as well as Yaris Hatch, made exclusively for export. There is no expected date for the launch of the new Yaris Cross model, Toyota said.
